New Orleans.....Mississippi.....the Flipper Bowl

On February 24th we loaded our Tahoe to the brim (4 kids, 4 adults and luggage for 4 days) and headed out on a road trip. Our friends, the Palfreymans" invited us to join them on a road trip back to thier old ward in Mississippi to attend the 15th and final "Flipper Bowl" (more on that in a moment). We decided to split up the 12 hour drive into 2 days thus making a stop in New Orleans and taking in the sites there for 2 days.

New Orleans was fun. We went to the Aquarium and looked at a lot of fish. We ate lunch at a cute litte cafe and had beignets at the famous Cafe Du Monde. Then we took a stroll down Bourbon Street. It was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon so we felt fairly safe taking the children down that street. That evening we loaded up the car and headed to Mississippi.

The drive was beautiful. It is exactly what I imagined the South to look like. (I know that technically Florida is the "South" but really....it isn't). We arrived at about 10 pm, had some dinner and got some needed rest.

Friday was a little site seeing and helping get the church cultural hall ready for the "Big Event". The Saturday night came and so did the reason for the trip.....The 15th Annual (and final) Flipper Bowl. Now...you know what the game of "Flipper" is, right? Well, if you don't know it by at title I will tell you it is the game you play with a piece of paper folded into a triangle and you "flip" it across the table at your opponent similiar to football. This event was fun....and a little over the top. I, not being super familiar with the game of "Flipper" hesitated to play but was eventually talked into it. I ended up winning the table championship! Todd did even better....he won his region. We go trophies and everything. It was a fun trip. A fun excuse to go to Mississippi and a great opportunity to spend time with friends.
